Search Engine Optimization is the method of designing website pages so that they rank as high as possible in the search engines. You can design a fabulous looking website, but if it isn’t on the first page of the search engine results, people searching for your product or service won’t be able to find your site. Being on the first page of a search engine results, will bring people who don’t already know you, but want your services, to your company.
What phrases are people who want to find you using? It is not good enough to think you are search engine optimized if you put the name of your company in and it comes up first. Think about what you do. Get into the mindset of those people searching for you. What are they typing into the search engine to look for your product or service? What is the word or phrase that you need to capitalize on when search engine optimizing your web pages.
Use those phrases in the title, description and content of the web page you are optimizing. When you search for something on a search engine, it comes up with a list of titles and descriptions for you to peruse and select. Make sure the title and descriptions are created in your web page and that they reflect your business and will encourage those searching to click on your site. By using those same words and phrases in the content of the page, you will encourage the search engine to rank your site highly. When you have finished optimizing your site, tell the search engines about your site. The search engine will send a bot or spider to see what your site looks like and rank it. If you have thought things out well, this will put your site on the first page of the search results for that word or phrase.
With a little thought, research and copy writing, you can put your site on the first page of all the search engines. What is important is that when people go on the internet to find the product or service you offer, they will find your website in the search engine.
